Wrangler Weekend Report...

Wednesday night at the Quoits in Guisborough, we got delayed getting out of Leeds as the snow was blowing a blizzard. Glad I wore me thermal underpants! We arrived at Guisborough Quoits not too late & fired up bang on time. 'Tear in my Beer' was the opening number followed by our new version of JJ Cales 'The Breeze'. A good sized crowd was in attendence as we cruised our way through the set. Second set went as well & we up'd the volume for the last set. A request for the Don Williams/Waylon classic 'Amanda' was fulfiled & we finished the night of with the great song 'Streets of Baltimore'. A good night was had by all. Papa started to lose his voice during the last set, it got a bit croaky but he managed to get through. Tonight was also the first night of us collecting sponsorship for the walk Lee is set to do in June (click link at bottom of this screen for details). The sponsor forms left us & disappeared around the club. They came back later on & the generous Guisborough folk had raised £88 for the cause. This ended up at £100 by the time we left the club. THANK YOU.

Friday evening & we were asked by Pudsey Liberal Club (our rehearsal venue) to supply entertainment for a charity night they were organising. No problem, we set all the PA system up the night before during rehearsals so we were good to go on Friday. So, imagine our disappointment when at 9pm we got up on stage to entertain the 11 people in the room. Apparently the club were supposed to advertise it but I guess they didn't. In fact, there was only 2 club committee members in attendence & they weren't the ones involved with any of this! It's a sad state of affairs but where were the club members? Where were the promised raffle prizes? We did however manage to debut a couple of new songs. Tony sang 2 of his self penned songs 'Easy Street' & 'Out of my Mind'. Easy Street is a laid back Merle Haggard style song & 'Out of my Mind' is more a ballad, both songs written & sang by Tony. We threw into the mix a sing-a-long. Tim sang a medley of 'China Doll/Fraulein/From a Jack to a King'. Papa's voice had recovered slightly so everything should be back to normal by this coming Wednesday.
